Before You Meet
- Video call first. A quick video call before meeting in person confirms the person is who they say they are.
- Tell someone where you're going. Share the location, the person's name, and when you expect to be back with a friend or family member.
- Meet in public. First meetings should always be in busy public places — cafés, restaurants, parks.
- Keep your address private. Don't share your home address until you know someone well. Use general area only.
- Trust your gut. If something feels off in the conversation before you meet, it is off. You owe no one a date.
On the Date
- Arrange your own transport. Drive yourself, take public transport, or book your own ride. Don't depend on your date for transport on a first meeting.
- Keep your phone charged. Bring a portable charger if needed.
- Watch your drink. Never leave your drink unattended. Order your own drinks.
- Have an exit strategy. It's always okay to leave. "I have an early start" is sufficient reason. You don't need to explain.
Protecting Your Privacy
- Don't share personal contact details (WhatsApp, Instagram, phone number) until you are comfortable
